LooLoo X-Caliber
5U Rack Extension · Creative effect · Looper
LooLoo X-Caliber is a dual-track stereo looper for Reason — two independent loopers in one rack, built to be performed. Record on either track and reshape it as it runs: reverse, a windowed trimmer, granular pitch, decay and stutter — then fold one track into the other with the on-beat Bounce engine, and lock both loops together with cross-track sync.
- Two independent stereo loopers, mirrored around a shared display
- Bounce one track into the other, on the beat
- Reverse, windowed trim and stutter — a built-in glitch engine

Front & back
Front panel — two mirrored loopers around a shared dual-radar display, with the central mixer and SYNC cluster between them and the Bounce block upper-right.
Back panel — per-track stereo In / Out / Send / Return, the summed Mix bus and mute gate, plus 41 CV inputs and 8 CV outputs.
// Overview
Two loopers you play
Two loopers on one performance surface — capture, mangle, and bounce between them.
Each track is a complete stereo looper, mirrored left and right around a shared display. Set the loop length in bars, press record, and the track captures to your song's tempo and starts looping on its own — then drops into Play, keeps layering in Overdub, or plays with the live input muted in Solo. Free Record and Early Stop break the grid when you want them to, and one level of undo per track walks back a take that didn't land.
Once a loop exists you reshape it live. A spring-loaded speed-bend fader pitches and bends with clean recovery to time; reverse flips the direction; a movable window plays just a slice of the loop; granular pitch shift transposes independently of speed; decay thins the loop over each pass; and a momentary stutter fractures it into rhythmic repeats. Stack a tiny reversed window with stutter and the device turns into a glitch instrument.
The Bounce engine is what makes two tracks more than two loopers. Fold either track's audio into the other — on the beat, mixed in at the destination's play position — to free a looper for the next idea, or to pile layers into a single track. It's fully independent per direction, with an optional clear-after-bounce and one level of undo on the destination.
A cross-track Sync Lock holds both loops in phase, with length multipliers from ×0.25 to ×3 for counter-loops and evolving layers. Each track also has its own external FX send/return that folds processed audio back into the loop for echoes that grow, dissolve or filter over time. About 32 seconds of loop memory per track, with a graceful fallback that always keeps a whole number of bars in time.
Underneath the performance controls, every parameter is exposed to CV — 41 inputs and 8 outputs — so the loops can drive, and be driven by, the rest of your rack in time with themselves.
LooLoo X-Caliber is the dual-track flagship of the LooLoo family of loopers from Doodov, built on the same live-record-into-buffer engine as LooLoo Mini.
// Detail
What's inside
Two independent loopers
- Two full stereo loopers (Track 1 / Track 2), mirrored around a shared display
- Per-track main output plus a summed stereo Mix bus
- Central mixer: per-track levels and a master Main Mix, with master Mute
Recording & modes
- Tempo-synced recording, loop length from 1/4 bar to 16 bars
- Three modes: record ▸ Play, record ▸ Overdub, record ▸ Solo (live input muted)
- Free Record, Early Stop, Quantise Overdub and Reset Sync, per track
- Overdub layering with single-level undo
- ~32 s loop memory per track, with graceful fallback to the largest whole bar count that fits — flagged on the display
Live playback shaping
- Spring-loaded speed-bend fader with clean recovery to time
- Reverse, combinable with every other control
- Windowed loop trimmer — size and offset choose how much of the loop plays, and where
- Granular pitch shift with adjustable grain size, independent of speed
- Per-cycle decay for evolving, fading loops, plus loop edge fade
Stutter
- Momentary stutter that repeats a captured slice of the loop
- Slice size and replay speed both adjustable
- Click-free engage and release; speed affects playback only while held
Bounce engine
- Fold either track into the other (1→2 and 2→1), independent per direction
- On-beat sync gate, arm / cancel, and mutual exclusion between directions
- Mixed in at the destination's play position, with smooth edges and a safety clip
- Optional clear-after-bounce; one level of undo on the destination
Sync
- Cross-track Sync Lock aligns recording so layers stay in phase
- Loop-length multiplier from ×0.25 to ×3 against the master loop
External FX loop
- Per-track stereo FX send and return, folded back into the loop buffer
- Regenerates through overdub for echoes that grow, dissolve or filter
- FX bypass and a headroom guard on the returns
Display & CV
- Dual radar rings showing both tracks at once — position, state, length, speed, direction
- Decay, FX, stutter and window indicators, per-track memory meter, and a clear mute indicator
- 41 CV inputs — transport gates (rec, play, clear, undo, stutter, reset, mute, bounce) plus a CV for every parameter
- 8 CV outputs — end-of-loop, play position, and record/play state, per track
